First responders took time out of their busy days to accept free meals, provided courtesy of Jamaican Grill restaurants across the island, as part of the establishment’s tradition to commemorate the events of 9/11.
Local and military first responders were invited to a dine-in service meal that included a jerk chicken and ribs combo plate and Ja-Mango Iced Tea.
“This year we were very fortunate that we’re still in COVID-19 times but were still able to accommodate them to come sit down, dine in and have a meal with their brothers and sisters,” said Omar Nobuo, marketing assistant for Jamaican Grill. The annual luncheon started in 2002 to remember victims of the attack, especially first responders in New York.
Meals were served to police officers, firefighters and paramedics, both in and out of uniform, at the Dededo, Hagåtña and Tamuning locations to mark the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
