A couple of days ago, President Joe Biden conducted the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon at the White House and he listed some of the things Americans can be thankful for.
“That’s what the Thanksgiving tradition is all about: being grateful for what we have and grateful for fellow Americans who we may never meet,” he said.
On top of his list: scientists, researchers, doctors and nurses. Vaccines. Frontline workers who kept businesses going and food on the table through difficult times. Faith leaders. The military.
On Guam, we also have a lot for which to be thankful.
We have emerged from a peaceful election season. Though some are celebrating and others are disappointed, we conduct our elections without violence.
We have people keeping our community safe. Every day, police officers and others in law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders go into dangerous situations on our behalf. We are fortunate that they are working for us.
