VIDEO: The Honolulu Fire Department is investigating what caused a house fire in Ewa Beach late Monday. The fire started around 11:50 p.m., HFD said. More than 20 firefighters responded to the two-story home on Peleleu Way, where they found smoke and flames coming from the garage and the front area of the structure. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 12:20 a.m. A man was in the home at the time and managed to escape safely. HFD said the home did have working smoke detectors but no fire sprinklers. Damage estimates have yet to be determined.
