Kalanianaole Highway has reopened following a major motor vehicle accident.
At least 8 vehicles were involved in the incident that took place just before 1 p.m. Sunday, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
A witness told Hawaii News Now that a pickup truck was speeding when a tire flew off.
According to the witness, the truck then slammed into a number of other vehicles along the highway. According to Honolulu Fire Department officials, the driver of the truck had to be extricated from the vehicle, they were then transported from the scene by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
An occupant of another vehicle was also injured.
