After months of separation because of COVID-19, a Honolulu Emergency Medical Services paramedic reunited with her 7-year-old son Tuesday afternoon. Shara Molina's parents care for her son, Aiden but they're also cancer patients. Because of her interaction with potentially infected patients everyday, she chose to stay away from her loved ones during the pandemic. "I'm trying to be a good example for him. He sees mommy as a hero. His daddy is an officer too. He sees us as heroes. Going out to make a difference in the world and that's why I continue to push through to come to work even though I haven't been with him for a month," Molina told KITV4 in April. Molina took time off last week and took a COVID-19 test to ensure she's virus free. Yesterday, she was ready for the big surprise.
