Police on Maui closed Kahekili Highway between Makaala Drive and Waiehu Beach Road due to a brush fire on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Maui Fire Department (MFD) crews estimate approximately seven acres have burned and said the blaze was 50% contained as of 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday The road closure was reported around 3:30 p.m., according to Maui Police Department’s Facebook. MFD fire crews are working to contain the fire by cutting a break around its perimeter with dozers. No structures were reported to be threatened as of 7:45 p.m.
