Hawaii Island police opened an investigation following a fatal home accident that involved an elderly man and a riding lawn mower. On Saturday around 1:15 p.m., March 30, South Kohala patrol officers and Hawaii Fire Department officials responded to a Waimea home on 64-5200 block of Nani Waimea St. This is after a call that reported a 78-year-old man was found unresponsive and pinned under a riding lawn mower. HFD medics determined the man was dead upon arrival. An autopsy was requested to determine the exact cause of death.
