An injured hiker is now safe after being rescued from a trail in Kailua.
On Sunday, March 24, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call around 9:38 a.m. about an injured hiker on the Olomana Trail in Kailua. HFD arrived to the trail at 9:50 a.m.
Officials reported that the woman hiker, 20s, had suffered from an injury and was not able to return to the trailhead on her own. An HFD helicopter was able to locate the woman and rescue her from her location on the trail. She was taken to the landing zone where she was later transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 10:21 a.m.
No other injuries were reported and all HFD personnel were accounted for.
HFD would like to remind hikers to assess their fitness level and hiking capabilities and to compare their level of fitness, ability, and experience with the trail description.
