Local Winterset Fire Fighters participated in the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb – an annual fundraising event where participants challenge themselves to climb the stairwells of four prominent buildings in downtown Des Moines.
The annual event draws over 1,000 participants and 300 volunteers, and raises thousands of dollars that will allow the organization to better serve the local community and make an even bigger impact on the lives of children and adults who suffer from lung disease, cancer, and other pulmonary ailments like COPD and asthma.
The American Lung Association is a voluntary health organization. Its mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
Participants could choose to climb one to four buildings with a sum of 85 flights of stairs.
