Warren County is ready to move forward with a nearly $11 million plan to replace the county's aging and problem-prone 911 communications system, according to the county board of supervisors chairwoman.
The system is inconsistent and does not provide adequate coverage to all parts of the county, officials say.
It went down for around two weeks in late 2018, coinciding with an armed robbery at the Indianola City State Bank.
“Carlisle Police Chief Matt Koch told me about an incident when they had an officer holding a suspect at gunpoint and the other officer on the scene was waving his radio around in the air trying to get a signal,” board Chairwoman Crystal McIntyre said. The Warren County Emergency Management Commission voted in favor of the new system.
