Pierce Aerial Technician Paul Roovers is in Red Oak this week training firefighters on the new 110-foot state-of-the-art aerial truck. The rig arrived at the Fire Station on May 30th. Roovers demonstrated how quickly the truck could be set-up and ready to go at the scene. The former ladder truck carried a 65-foot aerial unit. The new outfit extends 110 feet. It also comes with a front-mounted platform bucket, enhancing the department’s rescue capability. “It’s vital,” said Chief John Bruce. “We have multiple three-story apartment buildings, grain bins and grain elevators in the community and this truck can get us in with a quick set up, and the 110-foot reach is phenomenal to get us into the area we need to get to.
