It is with remorse that I must write this letter. Just last month, right before the Christmas holiday, a long-standing member of the West Liberty Fire and EMS Department was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the second most deadly cancer. He has a long and difficult battle ahead, and no one is more deserving of assistance in this difficult time. Curt Newcomb has dedicated over 33 years of his life to service with the West Liberty Fire and EMS Department, serving in various capacities within the Department, including as Fire Chief and as a Trustee on several occasions. In 2018 alone, our small community Department responded to 558 ambulance calls, and 101 fire calls. Mr. Newcomb responded to 106 of these calls—close to 20 percent of the total ambulance and fire calls combined!!
