PHOTOS: Sioux City Fire Rescue says one of the male victims from a Thursday morning fire has died due to his injuries.
Two other victims are in critical condition in the intensive care unit at MercyOne.
Thursday morning, firefighters entered the basement of 1819 W 1st St. and encountered heavy fire and smoke.
While extinguishing the fire and searching the basement, firefighters discovered three adult victims, two men (one 57, the other age unknown) and a 24-year-old woman.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
The investigation is being performed by Sioux City Fire Rescue, the Sioux City Police Department and investigators from the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
A press conference will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday.
