Des Moines emergency crews had to use a ladder to get a woman out of a domestic incident. It happened Wednesday morning in a home in the 1900 block of York Street, just south of Grand View University. Police said an agitated man was not allowing a woman to leave the house. Authorities showed up as the woman locked herself in a room upstairs. Police called fire crews to bring a ladder to get the woman out to safety. Police said the man refused commands to comply and a K-9 was deployed. Police said the suspect, 44-year-old Chaffee Baccam, was taken a local hospital for treatment after the K-9 bit him. He is set to be booked into the Polk County Jail on charges of burglary, false imprisonment and violation of a no contact order.
