A third person has now died from a February 6 house fire on West 1st Street.
Sioux City Fire Rescue says 26-year-old Juan Galarza, of Sioux City, has died from his injuries he suffered in the fire. Fifty-seven-year-old Andrew Godberson and 24-year-old Jessica Fischer, both of Sioux City, died from their injuries on February 7.
Authorities say this is Sioux City's deadliest structure fire since 1983.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The official cause will be released when available.
Around 7:30 a.m. on February 6 authorities were called to a house fire at the 1800 block of West 1st Street.
When authorities arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the small one-story home. The occupants on the main floor of the home were able to get out safely.
While extinguishing the fire and searching the basement, firefighters discovered the three victims. All three were taken to MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.
