The Alta Fire Dept.’s popularity is of no surprise, one reason being they make time to assist in the community when asked.
In the spring, dozens of times fire trucks were heard throughout Alta streets with sirens blaring and lights flashing giving well-wishes to kids on their birthdays. Fire Chief Kirk “Bubba” Reetz said this was done to cheer up the children who were unable to celebrate with their friends due to the pandemic.
Natalie Meyer is the department’s EMS Director and Facebook and PR representative. “The kids’ faces explained how happy they were to see us driving by for their birthdays,” she said, adding that a few were embarrassed, but still put a smile on their faces!
“We felt adding a little extra special drive-by just for the kiddos was our simple gesture to help during the unprecedented times of not being able to celebrate with all of their friends!
