A camper fire in Riverside Wednesday morning led to the arrest of a Lone Tree man on drug-related charges. Riverside Fire Chief Chad Smothers says they were called to 3070 Highway 22 shortly before 10 a.m. to find smoke coming from a camper in the Casey’s General Store parking lot. He says the owner, 51-year-old Shane William Hauser, had been able to contain most of the fire in the camper’s living area with the use of three fire extinguishers he had on hand and then firefighters finished putting the fire out within 20 minutes. Smothers says there were no injuries and damage was estimated around $1,000. He says a malfunctioning LP gas heater caused the fire. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office also responded and discovered Hauser was wanted on an Iowa City warrant for a controlled substance violation, with a $25,000 cash or surety bond. Hauser was arrested and taken to the Washington County jail.
