A storage building on the northwest side of Fort Dodge was destroyed in a Friday night fire that sent flames leaping into the air. No one was injured in the fire in the 200 block of Seventh Street Northwest. The fire was reported at 11:13 p.m. “When we got here, it was blowing in the sky fully involved,” Fire Department Capt. Steve Teske said. He described the building as being the size of a small double garage. It was set back about 100 feet from the street and was partially surrounded by a tall fence. Firefighters used about 700 feet of large diameter hose to connect to a hydrant on Third Avenue Northwest. A section of Third Avenue Northwest was closed because of the hose on the road. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fort Dodge police responded to the scene along with firefighters.
