The city of Center Point has been working on a new fire station for several years... and now it's almost complete. Ground broke on the site in April of 2021 for the $2.7 million project. The project began back in 2015, with a citizens advisory committee that took recommendations on the site and size of station needed for the community. Former Mayor Paula Freeman-Brown credited the residents of Center Point for passing a $2 million dollar bond in 2019, and all other donors who made up the difference. The city posted last week that the fire station is getting close to completion, replacing three buildings that were constructed in the 50s and 60s that were in poor shape.
