Estherville Police Department says that on Monday, June 27th, just after 3:00 a.m., they were dispatched to the Orchard Lane neighborhood in regard to a missing elderly dog.
The caller said that she could hear her dog barking in a ravine behind a house located at 29 Orchard Lane.
Officers and the dog owner searched the area and eventually found the dog. The dog was located in a cement drainage tile. The area around a drainage tile had created a sink hole approximately 3 feet in diameter and about 3 feet deep. At the bottom of the hole, a cement drainage tile was found, and the dog was about another 4 feet into and wedged into the cement tile. Officers contacted Estherville Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator, Travis Sheridan. Estherville Fire was contacted to assist at the scene.
