The Iowa City Fire Department says the American Red Cross is helping two people displaced by a fire early Friday morning. The department says crews were called to 1523 Rochester Avenue just before 12:30 a.m. for a report of a porch fire. Firefighters arrived minutes later and found one occupant trying to put the fire out with a hose. Crews were able to get the fire under control moments after arriving. No people or firefighters were hurt. The fire is said to have caused an estimated $20,000 in damage. The Iowa City Fire Marshal’s Officer is investigating.
