Two people were taken to the hospital after a house fire in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday morning. Firefighters said they were called to the fire at a single-story home in the 1200 block of N Street Southwest at around 10:08 a.m. Police were able to pull one of the victims out of the home and firefighters rescued the other victim. The two victims were the only two people in the home at the time of the fire. Cedar Rapids Police say two of their officers were also sent to the hospital for medical evaluation; however, both officers have since been released and are back at work. Battalion Chief Matt Woerner told KCRG-TV9 that crews were unsure if the house had working smoke detectors. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
