A home in Round Lake Heights was significantly damaged by a fire Saturday evening, officials said. Firefighters were called to the home on the 2300 block of Iroquois Lane at about 5:02 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Bill Rohrs of the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District. Five other departments also responded, and crews had the fire nearly under control within about 20 minutes. Nobody was in the home, Rohrs said, but a dog was rescued. The home is uninhabitable, Rohrs said. A damage estimate was not immediately available. The cause of the fire is unknown and is still being investigated.
