The partnership between the Barrington Fire Department and Barrington School District 220 is literally a lifesaver. Both Fire Chief Jim Aire and SD220 Superintendent Brian Harris distinctly remember the time a teacher collapsed at Barrington High School and the instructor’s colleagues, the school nurse and fire department paramedics all had a role caring for the instructor. “Witnesses saw her on the floor and administered CPR,” Aire said. “The school nurse took over and then we arrived and revived her. She walked out of the hospital. It doesn’t get better than that.” The superintendent said the teacher also went back to work. “She spent a few weeks in the hospital but she returned to finish the year,” Harris added. “It was a surreal moment showing how the partnership between us works.”
