A semitrailer caught fire late Tuesday morning, shutting down northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near Shorewood. Troy fire crews responded about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday to I-55 near Black Road, Troy Fire Chief Andy Doyle said. When personnel arrived, a semitrailer was in a blaze. The driver was able to safely exit the vehicle, Doyle said. The trailer appeared to be empty, and no one was injured.
