A downtown Pontiac furniture store hopes to reopen within the next couple of days, after a Saturday afternoon fire resulted in the loss of its warehouse and a neighboring ambulance service building. Several area fire departments, including Streator, Reading, Long Point and Cornell fire departments responded to assist. As Reading Volunteer Fire pointed out on its Facebook page, several sirens could be heard Saturday in Streator as departments responded. No injuries were reported. With black smoke visible above Pontiac's downtown, firefighters responded before noon Saturday to the Wright's Furniture warehouse, across an alley from the main business at 115 E. Madison St. The neighboring Duffy Ambulance Service, 202 E. Howard St., also was significantly damaged in the blaze.
