The Streator City Council approved a grant from the Department of Homeland Security during its meeting Wednesday night. The Department of Homeland Security has provided the Streator Fire Department with $143,618 to replace equipment. "The grant comes at the right time, our (self-contained breathing apparati) are reaching their out-of-date use," said Fire Chief Gary Bird. "It comes at a good time and we're happy to get it."
