A Tuesday morning house fire is under investigation by the Lombard Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at about 10:34 a.m. to the fire on the 1000 block of South Westmore-Meyers Road, according to Lombard Fire Department news release.
Crews immediately began an aggressive attack on the fire and initiated a search for victims. The fire was declared under control in approximately 30 minutes. Firefighters continued to ventilate smoke and perform salvage and overhaul activities, the release stated.
The fire was believed to have started in a back bedroom, according to a resident that was home when the fire began. There were no injuries, however, multiple pets perished in the blaze. One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury, according to the release.
