For the 19th year, members of the Rushville Fire Department are seeking the means to make the Christmas season brighter for in need youth in the community. The effort has been known as “Shop for Kids” and firefighters are asking for donations to make the effort even more successful this year. According to one of the organizers for the event firefighter Justin Cameron, all donations and proceeds will be used locally and the need has never been greater than this year. In years past, the effort has helped provide toys for youth so when they wake up Christmas morning they will have presents under the tree to open. This year will be no exception. “We get a list of toys the youngsters would like and we do our best to provide it for them. We include wrapping paper, tape and bows so their parents can wrap the toys and get them under the tree in time for Christmas morning,” Cameron said.
