The Muncie Fire Department is giving the public a chance to see the ambulances that will be running in the community, but officials are still not saying when that might actually happen.
A press release by the Muncie Fire Department, also posted to the city's Facebook page, announced the series of three open houses on successive days for the public to come out and view the ambulances and tour the fire stations. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served.
The plan to have a city-based ambulance service has been in the works for some time, with discussions starting more than three years ago. The plan, according to city officials as announced earlier this year, is for ambulances parked in fire station Nos. 2, 3 and 6 to help under-served communities, as well as the rest of the city.
