One man was injured in a Thursday afternoon fire at the Prosper apartment complex on Jefferson Boulevard. South Bend fire crews were dispatched shortly after noon to the complex and found a fire in a ground-floor unit along South 33rd Street. According to battalion Chief Mike Szucs, firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread to other units. “(Firefighters) made entry really quick and had a good stop on the fire before it spread to the second floor or the attic,” Szucs said. The condition of the injured man is unknown, though Szucs said the adult male was transported to the hospital. Chester Harris, who has lived across the street from the apartment complex since 1993, said he saw a man running from the building who told him there was a fire.
