The Jackson Township Fire Department is raising money for a new fence and supplies to level the ground as a local dairy farmer clears trees and brush from surrounding land to build agricultural and business opportunities.
Kenny Wagler, a farmer with Wagler Dairy, bought the 33.5 acres of land behind the fire department in 2019 and cleared a large number of trees and vegetation from the area in late 2019 into early 2020. He said the trees and brush had to be taken care of because a spillway that runs along both his property and the fire department’s was clogged.
“The trees had to come down because of the spillway that leads into a retention pond on the opposite side of Helmsburg Road,” he said. The ditch/spillway discharges out into the road which then joins Bean Blossom Creek, he explained.
