The Indianapolis Fire and Police Departments are investigating after a fire broke out at Lakeside Pointe apartment complex on Saturday. IFD responded to and extinguished the fire in the 9000 block of Lake Nora Drive East, near the intersection of North College Avenue and 91st Street, following multiple calls to 911, according to a press release. The first unit arrived on the scene at 6:50 p.m. and heavy fire showed from the roof of the building. The press release did not mention a cause for the fire. It did note a free-flowing gas valve in the back of the building, which was shut off shortly before 9 p.m. As of Sunday afternoon, the investigation was ongoing, and its unknown if the gas valve was a cause, IFD spokesperson and Battalion Chief Rita Reith said. The main part of the fire was located in the middle section of the apartment building, according to the press release.
