VIDEO: Fire crews are responding to a salvage yard in Wayne Township after a fire broke out Saturday morning
The Wayne Township Fire Department said the fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Hanna Auto Salvage. No employees were working at the time the fire started.
More than 35 emergency vehicles, including fire engines, ladder track, and airport crash vehicles, were working to get this fire out as of the time of this report.
The department said Long distances to water supplies and an even longer distance to get to the fire on the property slowed the initial firefight. Once a stable water supply was established, the bulk of the fire could be knocked down. The next phase of the operation will require all of the material to be moved so that it can be fully extinguished.
This incident is expected to last several more hours, as the process of moving the scrap metal
will be time-consuming.
