VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Fort Wayne Firefighters Museum is celebrating 50 years Saturday, April 20, with over 200 years of history.
WANE 15 got a tour of the museum, where since 1974, the Fort Wayne Firefighters museum has been preserving the past for all to see and remember.
“We’ve got quite a quite a lot of artifacts here,” said Dennis Giere, board of directors, vice president, Fort Wayne Firefighters Museum.
Hundreds and hundreds of artifacts. From horse stalls to 1920 fire engines and a fire department patch collection. Some of the museum’s artifacts can only be seen in Fort Wayne.
“The collection we have goes all the way back to the 1860s,” Giere said. “We have a hand pumper in here from 1860s that was pushed to the fire by the firemen and actually hand pumped.”
