No injuries were reported after a fire Sunday night at a Winfield residence, although the home was significantly damaged. The fire was reported around 11:38 p.m. at 500 N. Michigan St., Lot 19, Winfield Fire Marshal Chad Mayberry said Monday. The fire departments responded with two fire engines, an ambulance and nine personnel. The front porch was fully engulfed on arrival and the fire had made its way into the interior of the home. The residents had escaped before the fire department arrived. “There was significant damage to the front of the mobile home,” Mayberry said. The fire was under control at 11:56 p.m. Firefighters remained at the scene until 1:45 a.m. Monday to investigate and make sure the fire was completely out. Mayberry said the cause of the fire is undermined. The damage cost is estimated at $8,000.
