VIDEO: A house fire in north Wichita that sent six people to the hospital early Tuesday is under investigation.
The fire was reported at 4:42 a.m. Tuesday, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was billowing out of a house in the 3400 block of North Park Place. Strong winds fed the flames, forcing firefighters to stage a defensive attack, Wichita Fire Capt. Jose Ocadiz said.
All six people inside the home were evacuated. Two had critical injuries, and four had minor injuries, Ocadiz said. The injuries included smoke inhalation, he said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately apparent. Wichita Fire Department officials were still investigating at 10 a.m., Ocadiz said.
