Two small fires in Winfield last weekend are being labeled arson, according to a Winfield Police Department report.
The WPD described the fires as arson in its daily record of policy activity. Efforts to learn more on Wednesday from WPD were unsuccessful.
The fire late Sunday on 16th Avenue involved a shed at a residence where a heavy amount of smoke was reported.
About 13 blocks away and about 1 1/2 hours later, authorities responded to a report of a large amount of smoke coming a residence. The back of the house was smoldering when emergency services arrived, but it was quickly extinguished.
No injuries were reported from either fire.
Samples from the fires have been sent to the KBI for testing, according to Winfield Fire Marshall Chad Mayberry.
