A historic church in Douglas Co. is a total loss after a massive early morning blaze. The fire alarm at Clinton Presbyterian Church went off a little after 4:30 a.m., according to its Facebook page. The church's Clerk of the Session Pam Johnston captured several photos of the flames tearing through the building, at 588 N. 1200 Rd., in Clinton. "I feel terrible, it's not something I wanted to wake up to this morning, and then on my way up I hear about what's happening in Florida with the hurricane, it's kind of a day of disaster," Preacher Greg Lee said. Church members tell 13 NEWS they are hoping to salvage their church bell. Fire officials have not said how it started, but people on the church's Facebook page say it may have been a lightning strike. No injuries were reported. The 30 to 50 person congregation still plans to hold Sunday services - they'll meet at the Clinton Museum Building at 11 a.m., but Saturday's Labor Day breakfast is on hold.
