A Wichita firefighter is trading in his fire gear to dedicate more time to his other passion- cutting hair at his barbershop. Franklin's Barbershop owner Troy Franklin Jr. has been in and out of his shop while fighting fires during his career. He says one day he woke up and knew it was time to move on. "To me, it’s very important serving my community and I wanted to start and finish," said Franklin. "It was one of my goals to actually retire from the fire department so I feel good now that I’ve reached my goal." Franklin has dedicated 30 years to the Wichita Fire Department, he says there were five in his class and he's the last one to retire. He says he doesn't know how he was able to be both a fireman and part time barber. "I don’t know how I would’ve did it without my family, having my back because it’s pretty tough doing two things like that," said Franklin.
