VIDEO: A recently promoted captain with the Manhattan Fire Department has found a way to make a difference across the world.
With his parents support, Van De Creek started as a volunteer fireman while going to EMT school.
To stay fit while waiting for a full-time position, he channeled his high school wrestling experience into Mixed Martial Arts.
“Initially I just wanted to train and learn the technique and have fun but as I kept going I started competing.” Van De Creek says.
Injuries ended his competitive career, but Van De Creek still wanted to travel and make a difference.
