The latest volleys in the border war with Missouri now involve fireworks. Kansas lawmakers are considering a bill that they hope will create more revenue for the state. Fireworks are a tradition loved by millions of Americans and used every year as a celebration on the 4th of July. "I like my fireworks. I like to shoot them in that three week period. But if they were selling all the time, I'd probably buy them all the time so I'd enjoy it," said Ethan Woodring, a Wichita resident. Woodring might just get his wish here in Kansas. Senator Bud Estes is the chairman of a committee trying to pass year-round fireworks sales in our state. “This is strictly about the ability for permanent fireworks dealers to be able to sell their fireworks all year round,” said Estes. The reason? To keep up with competing states like Missouri that make money on the sale of fireworks all year.
