A family of five has lost their home following the third fire that began on the deck and spread to the home in Olathe in less than a day.
The Olathe Fire Department says that around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, emergency crews were called to the area of 151st and Mur-Len Rd. - 1917 E. Mohawk Dr. - with reports of a structure fire.
When firefighters arrived, they said they found a deck fire had spread into the home. They were able to extinguish the blaze in about 10 minutes; however, the damage was extensive.
First responders noted that a family of 5 was displaced from the home, but were able to find shelter with family. This is the third deck fire reported in the city in the last 18 hours.
OFD indicated that no injuries were reported and crews continue to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
