PHOTOS: Authorities say static electricity is to blame for three oil gun barrels catching fire on Saturday afternoon. Barton County Fire District 2 said just before 4:30 p.m., they responded to a report of oil gun barrels on fire at NW 70 Rd and NW 30 Ave. Arriving crews found three gun barrels engulfed in flames. High winds with zero visibility at times made it very difficult in the response, the department said. Static electricity is believed to be the cause of the ignition. Firefighters were on scene for a couple hours as the winds died down and were monitoring as the fiberglass barrels burned and melted down until it was safe for them to burn themselves out throughout the night. Fire crews were assisted by the Barton County Sheriff's office, Kansas Highway Patrol and Barton County Dispatch.
