The Saline County Sheriff's Office is investigating how a travel trailer caught fire early Wednesday morning.
Deputies responded to a passersby report of a fire in the 1800 block of West North Street, just outside Salina city limits, around 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander said the trailer was completely engulfed in flames. In addition, a person staying at a nearby workshop building, a 65-year-old man, was able to get out safely as flames began to spread to the workshop.
Melander added that the owner of the trailer used it as storage space. Most of the items lost in the fire were personal belongings and clothes. In addition, the person staying at the workshop had permission to be there, but did not own the building.
Melander said the dollar amount of damages from the fire has not yet been determined.
