The Wichita Fire Department says 11 people suffered injuries in a fire early Monday in east Wichita. Around 2 a.m. Monday, crews were called to the Park Meadows apartment complex in the 11100 block of East Boston, near Harry and Webb. Firefighters arrived on scene and found flames coming from the second story of an apartment building. They immediately called for help once they found a staircase leading to the second floor engulfed in flames. Firefighters then put up nine ladders to search units on the second story to see if anyone needed help. In total, EMS treated 11 patients. Six of them were treated on scene, while five were taken to area hospitals for help. Investigators say it is too early to say what started the fire, but they say it is not livable at this point due to damage from the fire and water used by firefighters.
