Firefighters in Jessamine County worked to put out a house fire Sunday morning. It happened at a home on Applegrove Drive on the north side of Nicholasville. Crews got to the scene around 5:30 a.m. and were able to put the fire out after about 40 minutes. "Most of the damage is to the rear and the inside near the rear," said Battalion Chief John Schaefer. "Most of the front is OK and just has smoke damage." We're told that a man, his dog and two cats were inside at the time. The man who was inside said he didn't realize his house was on fire until neighbors knocked on his front door.
