Although multiple fire departments responded this afternoon to a house fire in Drakesboro, the structure was a total loss after flames engulfed it shortly after 2 p.m. Drakesboro firefighter Keith Waymon Knight said the department was paged out at 2:26 p.m. to 1155 Jacksontown Road, Drakesboro. Beechmont and Central City fire departments also responded as well as the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office. Due to heat and humidity, one firefighter sustained heat exhausion while battling the blaze and was transported to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg County Hospital in Greenville. Knight said no one was home at the time of the fire and the cause is yet unknown.
