Kriss Groth spent last Saturday at home. She was hoping for a low-key night, but all the action came to her.
"I pulled the shade back, and I just saw flames," Groth said. "I could just feel the heat."
Investigators say the flames were far from a mistake. They claim the person who told them that was the homeowner, Alex Probus.
"At what point do you burn your own house down and walk out the door? Groth asked. "That's got to be some mental issues as well."
LMPD said Probus told officers he wanted to get rid of the memories the house held.
"There was just a lot of domestic calls to that residence," Groth said.
