Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) on Friday announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program is awarding two grants to Barren County fire departments.
The AFG program awards grants directly to fire departments, emergency medical services organizations, and state fire training academies. The City of Glasgow Fire Department will receive a $172,286 grant for new air packs. The East Barren Fire Department will receive a $141,239 for air packs.
“I am proud to announce these competitive grants to two very deserving fire departments,” said Guthrie. “Up-to-date fire equipment can get expensive, and these grants from the AFG program will allow the City of Glasgow and East Barren fire departments purchase lifesaving air packs. Our firefighters put themselves at risk every day to protect our communities, and I am glad they will be able to use this grant to buy new equipment that will keep them safe.”
